Family History Fair – Downpatrick Library 27 September 2008
Downpatrick Library provided a Family History Fair to give the public access to free advice and guidance on searching for their ancestors. Exhibitors included PRONI, UAFP, UHF, FULS, Somme Heritage Centre, Down Museum and Local History and Family History Organisations. The event ran from 10.00am to 4.00pm.
When the doors opened the room filled immediately and the next three hours were very busy. Apart from providing help and guidance to many questioners, the Federation sold 2 CDs of Ulster Local Studies, 15 copies of Due North, signed up an Individual Member and registered 3 participants for the PRONI Workshop on 25th October. The Federation had on display its new banners and the new information leaflet was in great demand.
The flow of callers slackened in last couple of hours but it was clear that there is a huge interest out there in researching family history.
